Maurice Manswell: The Student-Entrepreneur Empowering Youth Athletes with WeTrain

Like most entrepreneurial-minded college students across the land, Maurice Manswell had avision of how he wanted his business to operate, down to each detail. The difference between Maurice and those in his position is that he is off to a blazing start rather early in his academic career.

A former lacrosse player at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida, Manswell now attends theUniversity of Miami. Majoring in Sport Administration with a Minor in Entrepreneurship, he isfocused on helping youth athletes get to and succeed at the next level through WeTrain, amobile app that matches K-12 student-athletes with local College and Pro student-athletes tocomplete 1on1 sport-specific training sessions, group sessions, sit-down mentoring sessions, and events around the world all while providing the opportunity to forge long-lasting bonds in theprocess.

A former student-athlete himself, Manswell knows all too well the challenges young men andwomen face while doing their best to maintain a high GPA, stay healthy, and train regularly toimprove their craft in hopes to land an athletic scholarship.

WeTrain – an idea that Manswell shared at the dinner table one evening with his mother,Allison, a fellow entrepreneur, and founder of Path Forward Consulting. “What are you waitingfor?!” exclaimed Allison, in hopes of encouraging her son to get started on what is proving to bea terrific business venture. That same night, Manswell put his thoughts to paper and the verynext day, he began the development process.

Maurice had it all laid out. He already had several friendships with athletes at the collegiatelevel, some of which are currently with WeTrain, who could help train and mentor K-12student-athletes on their journey to becoming NCAA student-athletes. From track & fieldathletes at UNC, to football players at the University of Cincinnati, and lacrosse players at LynnUniversity and Ohio State University, the range of athletes at WeTrain continues to grow.

Founded in 2022, WeTrain was built off a passion for sports and inspiring the youth. A passion that has also led to a potential partnership with a major sports apparel company whose brand goals align with that of WeTrain, and would significantly benefit both parties. WeTrain went live on the App Store on July 20th, 2023, and has already gained over 30 trainers within one week.  As stated by Manswell on a phone call, “The vision is finally starting to come to life and Icouldn’t be more grateful”. WeTrain strives to provide an affordable platform, that gives back to the community at the same time. He has been training youth lacrosse players personally for a while but always noticed that there was no reliable platform and only a market. Manswell knew WeTrain was going to leave a positive impact on the world when his college teammates would always ask him for kids to train in the South Florida area.

At the end of the day, Manswell and his team aim to create a community of sport-loving individuals that all have the same focus – to unlock the limitless potential of student-athletes around the world.

WeTrain can be accessed on-line, via social media on Instagram, and via App Store or Google Play. Simply search “WeTrain”, then download and sign-up.
